Cat Bohannon is an American writer and researcher. She trained in literature and holds a PhD in English from Columbia University, where she studied how stories shape thinking. She has also worked in theater and performance and has taught at the university level. Her first book, Eve: How the Female Body Drove 200 Million Years of Human Evolution, appeared in 2023 and became a bestseller. It traces female anatomy and physiology from early mammals to modern humans and argues that science has long treated the male body as the default. Bohannon spent years reading across paleontology, medicine, anthropology and neuroscience to write it. The book brought her wide attention as a science communicator and joined a wave of popular works that question gaps in medical and biological research on women.
