Chuck Tingle is an American author best known for self-published Kindle erotica with absurd titles, which he began releasing in 2014 and which gained a large internet following. He writes under a pseudonym and presents himself as a warm, upbeat figure, often signing off with the phrase 'love is real.' His work mixes surreal humor with sincere messages of acceptance, especially toward LGBTQ+ readers. He moved into traditional publishing with the horror novel Camp Damascus in 2022, about a conversion therapy camp, followed by Bury Your Gays in 2023 and Lucky Day in 2025, all from major publishers. Camp Damascus became a USA Today bestseller. He won a Dragon Award for his work and has also published the Tingleverse short fiction. Tingle shows how internet comedy can lead to serious genre fiction about identity and fear.
