Diksha Basu is an Indian-born writer who splits her time between New York and Mumbai. She was born in New Delhi and went on to study and work in the United States, including time in the entertainment industry. Her first novel, The Windfall (2017), follows a Delhi family whose sudden wealth moves them into an upscale neighbourhood and tests their sense of status and belonging. Her second novel, Destination Wedding (2020), is a family comedy set around an extravagant Delhi wedding, seen partly through a New York television executive. Both books deal with money, class and the pull between India and the West, and treat their affluent characters with sympathy. Basu has also written for magazines and worked in television. Her fiction sits within contemporary South Asian diaspora writing and is known for light, social comedy.
