Lina Wolff

Swedish · b. 1973

Lina Wolff is a Swedish novelist born in 1973. She studied in Lund and lived for many years in Spain and Italy, and Spanish literature and culture shape much of her work. Her debut novel, Bret Easton Ellis and the Other Dogs, appeared in 2012 and won praise for its sharp, dark treatment of desire and power. Her second novel, The Polyglot Lovers, won the August Prize in 2016 and brought her international attention. Her books are translated into English by Saskia Vogel and Frank Perry. Later novels include Carnality and The Lesson of the Apple. She writes about men and women who trade in desire, status and self-deception, often with a bleak comic edge and strange, fable-like turns. Her work has been published in many languages and has won translation prizes in the English-speaking world, including the Oxford-Weidenfeld Translation Prize. She is among the best-known Swedish novelists of her generation.
