American · b. 1988
Pierce Brown is an American author of science fiction. He was born in 1988 and grew up in Colorado. He published his first novel, Red Rising, in 2014, after years of rejections and work in jobs outside publishing. The book became a New York Times bestseller and began the Red Rising saga, a series about a society divided into color-coded castes and a young miner who infiltrates its ruling class. The series continued with Golden Son, Morning Star, Iron Gold, Dark Age and Light Bringer. Brown also wrote Sons of Ares, a graphic novel set in the same universe. His books combine military combat, political intrigue and large casts of characters. They are often compared to The Hunger Games, Ender's Game and Game of Thrones. Brown's work has been translated into many languages and has built a large readership among adult and young adult fans of space opera.
