Every Nobel Prize in Literature winner, 1901–2026
The Nobel Prize in Literature has gone to 123 writers since 1901; in 1904, 1917, 1966 and 1974 the prize was shared, and in 7 years it was not given at all. The Swedish Academy gives it each year to a writer for their work as a whole, not for a single book. The latest winner is Anne Carson (2026). Of the 95 winners with at least two books on ReadingRate, the most approachable is Rudyard Kipling, whose 3 books there have a typical difficulty of 36/100; the hardest is Elfriede Jelinek, at 75/100.
